Shocking Video Shows Point Officers Suffer Blade Attacks in Unexpected Assault

The Two Sergeants Moments Prior to the Attacker Received Electric Shock

A police sergeant who rushed to the help of a colleague that was assaulted by a knife attacker has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he placed a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.

"Officer stabbed," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his radio.

Bodyworn and vehicle camera recording made public by the agency depicted Brown, that was clothed in black with a head covered, run up to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.

He ran into the officer who lost balance and fell to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the pavement although being multiple times hit with the weapon.

PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a safe opportunity, concluding the struggle to an finish.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get assistance on my neck now, I got knifed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell sustained two open wounds to his throat and more injuries to his arms and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.

Authorities reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stem his colleague's hemorrhaging prior to paramedics arrived.

The latest recognition arrives subsequent to the three officers received internal Courage Honors in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional officer association in spring 2024.

They were also awarded a Area Courage Honor in mid-2024.

"The actions of the entire team ultimately saved one another and meant no civilians suffered any injuries."

Brown was given to an secure medical confinement in April 2024, as stated by the department.
